Grand Seiko recreates 45GS with Caliber 9SA4

Earlier this year, Grand Seiko launched its new top-of-the-line manual winding 9SA4 movement, and now it has installed this new movement in two retro replica watches - Heritage Collection 45GS Re-creation SLGW004 and SLGW005. .
45GS Re-creation is a limited edition watch made of steel or 18k gold. It is one of the few replica watches of Grand Seiko. It is equipped with the latest generation movement with a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour and also has Grand Seiko's proprietary double-pulse escapement.
This is the first time Grand Seiko has remade the 45GS, but if this new pair of replica luxury watches looks familiar, that’s because Grand Seiko launched a 44GS remaster in 2013. Based on the 1968 45GS, both watches remain stylistically faithful to the vintage originals. The case retains the design of the vintage model, but is slightly larger at 38.8mm in diameter and only 10.4mm thick. A typical feature of Grand Seiko cases is the zaratsu polished mirror, which is particularly prominent on the 45GS case due to its wide and flat sides.
The 45GS is available in gold or stainless steel, and has both the “Seiko” and “GS” logos engraved on the dial, which has been removed since Grand Seiko split into an independent brand in 2017. The dial is exactly the same as the original, right down to the Seiko Second Lightning logo above six o'clock. It is used to differentiate between watches produced by Daiichi Seikosha and watches produced by Suwa Seikosha, both factories producing Seiko watches but competitors within the Seiko Hattori Group. It’s worth noting that the first Grand Seiko model produced by Daiichi Seikosha was the 1967 44GS, which was the direct successor to the 45GS.
